Charming Grooves

Welcome to the Harmunichs' website. We are a group of about 40 women, of all ages and backgrounds, who enjoy performing a cappella music in Barbershop style. Based in Munich, we perform at a wide range of public and private venues.

Within the past 15 years the Harmunichs have gathered a wide range of performance experience. In 2006 we won the German Barbershop Championship in Dortmund taking another stab in 2008 when we achieved second place in this national championship. We are devoted to the a-capella style of Barbershop singing, but singing with a lot of enthusiasm and passion we also love to spice up our repertoire with groovy Gospels and swinging Jazz songs as well as Pop music.

Since 2002 we are a registered chorus society and are active members of the German Barbershop Society BinG! and the Bavarian Chorus Society "Bayerischer Sängerbund". The Harmunichs are also a prospective member of the American Barbershop Society for women "Sweet Adelines International" getting more and more actively involved in building up a German chapter of this organization (www.sweetadelines.de).

After moving to a bigger rehearsal room in 2009, we are happy to welcome many new enthusiastic singers bringing musical knowledge and fresh ideas into the group. Together we build a dedicated A-Cappella-Chorus full of verve and setting high standards for our music and performance: The Harmunichs!

Our Director

Monica Knox was thrilled to be appointed as the new director of the Harmunichs in 2001. Having moved to Germany from Texas, USA in 1987, Monica was one of the first members of the Harmunichs singing Tenor and Lead for several years.

Having studied singing, Monica is not only a charismatic director, but also performs with her quartet "Chromagic" as a lead achieving second place in the German Barbershop Quartet Championship in 2006.

Join us!

You would like to visit or join us?

We (usually) meet Wednesday evenings at the

KKV Hansahaus in Munich (Brienner Str. 39).
We start promptly at 7:15 PM and continue until around 9:45 PM.

We welcome women of any age who enjoy four part a cappella harmony. Experience in singing as a chorus member is desirable, but not a premise.
